Sesshin is a Zen meditation timer for iPhone and Apple Watch. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data the app uses and how it is handled.
Sesshin does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs.
The only data Sesshin works with is your meditation session history — start time, end time, and whether a kinhin (walking) period was included. This data is stored entirely on your device using Apple's HealthKit framework and local app storage.
With your permission, Sesshin saves completed meditation sessions as Mindful Session samples in Apple Health. This data lives on your device and in iCloud if you have Health data sync enabled. Sesshin reads mindful session data only to display your own history within the app. No HealthKit data is ever sent off your device by Sesshin.
Session state is shared between the iPhone app and Apple Watch using an App Group on your device. No data leaves your devices.
Sesshin uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver Live Activity updates to your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. These updates contain only timer state (phase and remaining time) and are not used to identify you or collect information.
We do not sell, share, or disclose your data to any third party, ever.
All session data is stored locally on your device. You can delete it at any time by removing sessions from the History tab in Sesshin, or by deleting the app. HealthKit data can be managed directly in the Apple Health app.
Sesshin does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
